Water damage to ceiling
Have you ever noticed that some gifts are all about what the giver wants when they have to be around you?
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Like the extra set of silverware my mom gave me for me at Christmas, because our 8-piece set could no longer keep up with a family of 4 + frequent visits by grandparents + aunts. (= Way less time and aggravation washing forks. Thanks, mom.)
Recently, my in-laws laid out the big bucks to help subsidize a new toilet, after the old one was pronounced dead by the plumber. They’ll be here in June, and I’m guessing don’t want to spend their time visiting the emergency backup toilet in the unfinished basement, surrounded by boxes and spiders.
For your generosity, we thank you. We really, really thank you.
But the old toilet didn’t go out without leaving its mark.
The day before it was replaced, in fact, this happened: The link is a little slide show I’m calling “Toilet’s Revenge.” (YouTube sensation it’s not. But it’s super short and has a tiny bit of guitar. And in fact features a glimpse of the new toilet since I didn’t have the presence of mind to snap photos at the time.)
Who was manning the pots and pans below? A brand new play date friend, who had come over that afternoon to meet us.
Yes, they did leave soon after.

Same thing happened to us from the upstairs toilet, also wrecking the kitchen ceiling. I should post my own pictures too! A blog just of toilet wrecked kitchen ceiling photos!
I think the basement potty is my favorite feature of your house, mainly because I try to picture the conversation the led to its installation. Please don’t ever change it, no matter what Lars’ parents say.
E, you’re a riot!
@Cashhusbandroomie again: I thought your favorite feature was our suicide stairs…
Well, I do enjoy cracking open my head on my quinquennial visits to your home. Usually I’m able to wake a bunch of sleeping children as well a breaking my skull.
Here’s my contribution to the TWKCP blog:

Basement toilet was there when we moved in. We refer to it as the emergency option.
