I Hate Tuesday, and So Does the Post Office

February 3rd, 2009 by Sara

What good is Tuesday?

It lacks the rev-up of a Monday and the cruising altitude of Wednesday.

Tuesday’s paper is slim and tight-lipped, still recovering from the Monday blues. It rarely has a thing to say.

And TV — well, before Tivo, anyway, the only thing to look forward to on a Tuesday night used to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

But the mail, now there was cause for real despair. A post card, perhaps. A single solicitation. Some days, nothing at all.

So here’s three hurrahs to the post office’s proposal to save money by axing this day from its delivery schedule.

“Neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor hail…” only the dreaded Tuesday shall keep the postman from his route.

  • down with tuesday!

  • I’ve got a great idea. How about they don’t deliver bills for six days out of the week? And they can deliver checks any time they want. Wouldn’t that work? :-)

  • OK, why in the world would you be off on Sunday, work Monday, be off on Tuesday … that just seems frantic to me. Far better on employees and citizens to take two days in a row off and have a big mail dump on Tuesday.

But please, could we trade a day of delivery for the price? I don’t want to lose a chance at a check AND pay more to do it.
